Ron Brown is a toxicologist with over 35 years of experience in regulatory toxicology and risk assessment. Following 25 years of service at the U.S. FDA, Ron retired as a Senior Toxicologist, having led the oversight and review of E&L risk assessments for medical devices. Prior to his career at the FDA, Ron honed his technical skills in the private sector, serving as a Senior Associate at the ILSI Risk Science Institute.

Today, Ron leads the Risk Science Consortium, LLC, where he leverages his regulatory insight to provide expert training and conduct research. By partnering closely with clients, he enables organizations to confidently adopt innovative strategies when navigating complex toxicological requirements and modern safety standards.

Ron’s influence on global safety protocols is extensive. He served for many years as the convener of ISO TC194 WG11, spearheading the critical revision of ISO 10993-17 Biological Evaluation of Medical Devices Part 17: Toxicological Risk Assessment of Medical Device Constituents. Ron represented the United States as an expert on ISO TC194 WG11, and served as co-chair of the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) Biological Evaluation Committee.

In addition, Ron is a founding member and former President of the Medical Device and Combination Products Specialty Section (MDCPSS) of the Society of Toxicology (SOT) and former President of the Dose-Response Specialty Section (DRSG) of the Society for Risk Analysis (SRA).
